In her Saturday Night Live
monologue, Dakota Johnson openly admitted that she struggles to approach
interviews seriously when promoting her films. The actress, set to appear in
the upcoming Marvel film Madame Web alongside Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced,
and Celeste O’Connor, has been extensively engaging in press interviews for the
movie.

She came to the realization that she is not adept at conversing with journalists, expressing, “I have difficulty in talking to journalists, primarily because what I say is often taken seriously when, in reality, I'm just making jokes.”
Johnson revealed that her tendency
to approach things lightheartedly has been a part of her for a long time, even
during her younger years. She illustrated this by sharing a video from the
'90s, where she was on a red carpet with her father, actor Don Johnson, as a
child. In the footage, she can be observed rolling her eyes. Upon returning to
the SNL stage, Johnson repeated the eye roll, accompanied by laughter.
Regarding her upcoming MCU movie
scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 14, Johnson likened it to the scenario where
artificial intelligence generates the perfect movie for someone's boyfriend.
This marked Johnson's second time hosting SNL, following her previous appearance on a Season 40 episode in 2015. Reflecting on the show, a photo was displayed showing Johnson in the audience alongside Steven Spielberg, Sarah Palin, George Lucas, and Donald Trump. Making a jest about Trump, she commented, “It’s just surreal standing so close to someone who would later become the most powerful person in America,” with the camera zooming in on Taylor Swift, seated in front of her in the photo.

In a later part of her monologue,
the actress known for Fifty Shades of Grey playfully mentioned Justin
Timberlake as the evening's musical guest. However, Timberlake took this as an
invitation to take the stage.
As Johnson stood with a perplexed
expression, Timberlake, assuming he was also hosting, remarked, "If you want me to be in sketches — I have
hosted before," raising his hand to emphasize that he had already
hosted SNL five times.
In reply, Johnson commented, "Yeah, well, that was 10 years ago. … I mean, either way, I’m so happy you chose my show for your comeback." The singer, unsure about being labeled as making a "comeback," questioned, "Is that what we’re calling it?" Johnson swiftly clarified, "I mean, comeback in a good way."
"I get it, we're making a joke here," Timberlake quipped.
"First, he brought sexy back, and
now he's bringing 'coming back.'"
However, Johnson expressed that she
wouldn't phrase it that way, to which Timberlake agreed, saying, "Yeah, you're right, now that I've heard that
out loud."

Jimmy Fallon made a special
appearance during Johnson's monologue, dressed as Barry Gibb. Later in the
episode, Fallon and Timberlake, portraying Gibb's younger brother, Robin,
revived The Barry Gibb Talk Show for an SNL sketch.
This marked Johnson's second time
hosting SNL, with her initial appearance in Studio 8H taking place in 2015.
Shark Tank stars Barbara Corcoran and Mark Cuban also made appearances on
Saturday's episode.
