Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has dropped his lawsuit against Fox News. He filed a voluntary dismissal on Sunday, just hours after his father announced his exit from the 2024 presidential race (Fox News, naturally, was among the TV channels rushing to cover President Biden’s decision).

The filing indicates that the suit against Fox was dismissed without prejudice, allowing Biden the option to re-file the charges in the future.

Earlier this month, Biden sued Fox over a fictionalized miniseries on the Fox Nation streaming service titled The Trial of Hunter Biden. Fox had removed the miniseries in April.

Biden claimed the series “intentionally manipulates the facts” and “distorts the truth,” including explicit images of him in the nude and engaged in sex acts. His lawsuit included allegations of violating New York’s revenge porn law, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and unjust enrichment.

A Fox News spokesperson directed Morfeli Reporter to the channel’s original statement regarding the lawsuit.

“This lawsuit is entirely politically motivated and lacks merit,” the statement read. “The core issue involves a 2022 streaming program that Mr. Biden did not raise concerns about until a letter was sent in late April 2024. The program was removed shortly after the letter as a precaution, but Hunter Biden, as a public figure, has been the subject of multiple investigations and is now a convicted felon.”

Biden was convicted last month on federal gun charges but has not been charged with crimes related to bribery or foreign lobbying, which were central to Fox’s series.
