The streamer introduced Colin Jost & Michael Che Present: New York After Dark, a particular to be hosted live by the Saturday Evening Dwell “Weekend Replace” pair of their dwelling borough on the Bell Home in Brooklyn.
It airs Sept. 12 at 9 p.m., and will showcase a rotating cast of the pair's favorite New York City club comics — both new faces, as well maybe some familiar ones. With a house band throughout the hour 1500 or Nothin', featuring Grammy-nominated musical ensemble, who will perform alongside comedians.
The move comes as the stand-up special market is incredibly high. In fact, it has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise pretty gloomy entertainment landscape as deep-pocketed platforms like Amazon and Hulu have opened their wallets.
While Peacock isn't a big player because of the ever so popular bidding wars rising to eight figure levels for top comics, it landed on its feet with specials such as Kevin Hart's most recent hour. Netflix — the behemoth still in this space — ventured into live comedy with Chris Rock, and more recently Joe Rogan.
