Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman take holiday travel to new heights of difficulty in the trailer for the Netflix thriller Carry-On. The action-packed film, set primarily in an airport, is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and will be available on the streaming platform starting December 13.
Joining Egerton and Bateman in the cast are Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, Sinqua Walls, Logan Marshall-Green, Theo Rossi, Josh Brener, and Dean Norris.
Carry-On revolves around a novice TSA agent, played by Egerton, who finds himself engaged in a mental duel with a mysterious passenger, portrayed by Bateman. The tension escalates when the stranger coerces the agent into allowing a dangerous package onto a flight on Christmas Eve.
Directed by Collet-Serra, who is well-known for his work on Black Adam and Jungle Cruise, the movie was developed from a script by T.J. Fixman. Dylan Clark serves as the film's producer, with Collet-Serra, Holly Bario, Brian Williams, Seth William Meier, and Scott Greenberg listed as executive producers.
Egerton, widely recognized for his roles in the Kingsman film series and his highly praised performance as Elton John in Rocketman, as well as his starring role in the Apple TV+ series Black Bird, teams up with Bateman, who has recently appeared in films like Fool’s Paradise and Air.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Egerton provided insight into his character’s emotional state at the time viewers are first introduced to him in Carry-On. He described his character as disheartened with his job at the airport and feeling downcast and unfulfilled.
On top of that, he has just learned that his girlfriend is pregnant, which adds to the pressure he feels to step up as a responsible father and provider. Despite these challenges, Egerton hinted that his character's struggle to find meaning in his life sets the stage for his reaction when faced with the high-stakes situation that unfolds in the film.
