According to sources from The
Hollywood Reporter, Ellen Pompeo, known for her portrayal of Dr. Meredith Grey,
will be featured in more episodes of the upcoming 20th season of Grey's Anatomy
than originally anticipated.

It's reported that Pompeo is set to appear in a minimum of four episodes of the season, with the potential for additional appearances. Representatives for ABC declined to provide further comment.
Initially, Pompeo's involvement in
the landmark 20th season was expected to be minimal, if any, as she
transitioned from a series regular to a recurring role. This change came after
she committed to produce and star in a yet-to-be-named limited series for Hulu,
which is currently in the pre-production phase.
During season 19, Pompeo featured in fewer than 10 out of the 20 episodes and was written out in the finale after her character, Meredith Grey, relocated to Boston. Despite this, Pompeo, who has portrayed Grey since 2005, is anticipated to continue providing her signature voiceover for Grey's Anatomy.
Pompeo's appearance in a teaser
trailer for season 20 sparked interest, with sources indicating a significant
storyline for her character in the upcoming premiere.
Additionally, Jessica Capshaw is
set to reprise her role as Arizona in season 20, albeit reportedly for just one
episode.
Due to last year's dual strikes, production delays, and significant impacts on the broadcast schedule, season 20 of Grey's Anatomy will consist of only 10 episodes.
This season also marks the debut of
Meg Marinis as showrunner, following Krista Vernoff's departure at the end of
season 19. Marinis has been part of Grey's Anatomy since its third season,
starting as a writer's production assistant.
She progressed through roles as a
writer's assistant and medical researcher before ascending to the position of
executive producer, which she has held for the past four seasons. Marinis has
contributed to over 25 episodes of the show as a writer.
